The rectangular field is to be fenced. The length of the field is 16 m more than the width. if 140 m of fencing is required find the dimensions of the field?

Let the width to be x
and the length to be (x+16)

NOW,
        Perimeter of Rect. Field = Fencing
                2(Length+Breadth) = 140
                              2(x+16+x) = 140
                             2x+16 = 140/2
                                   2x = 70-16
                                     x = 54/2
                                     x = 27

Width = x = 27m
Length = x+16 = 27+16 = 43m
