Answer:rf of diamond= 2.419; rf of diamond with respect to air= 1/ rf of air with respect to diamond(acc to principle of reversibility of light);

Rf of air with respect to diamond = sin C

Sin c= 1/ rf of diamond with respect to air

= 1/2.419

But sin 42° = 1/2.419

So critical angle for light going from diamond to air = 42°
