Given info : the refractive index of glass for light going from air to glass is 3/2.

To find : the refractive index for light going from glass to air will be..

solution : refractive index : it is the measure of bending of a ray of light passing from one medium to another.

       "refractive index of a medium is the ratio of the speed of light in vacuum to the speed of light in that medium."

from Snell's law, when a ray of light travel from one medium to another it follows, \mu_1sin\theta_1=\mu_2sin\theta_2

here the refractive index of glass for light going from air to glass is 3/2.

case 1 : light is going from air to glass.

so, \mu_1=1(\text{air}),\mu_2=\frac{3}{2}

sin\theta_1=\frac{3}{2}sin\theta_2

\frac{sin\theta_1}{sin\theta_2}=\frac{3}{2}  = refractive index of glass for light going from air to glass

case 2 : light is going from glass to air.

\mu_1=\frac{3}{2}(\text{glass}),\mu_2=1(\text{air})

\frac{3}{2}sin\theta_1=sin\theta_2

\frac{sin\theta_1}{sin\theta_2}=\frac{2}{3} = refractive index for light going from glass to air.

therefore the refractive index for light going from glass to air wil be 2/3. as it is a fraction so we can multiply and divide by any real number.

i mean, \frac{2}{3}=\frac{2\times2}{3\times3}=\frac{4}{6}

so the answer is 4/6 , is also preferable.
