Given:

The refractive indices of alcohol and turpentine oil with respect to air are 1.36 and 1.47

n = refractive index

(oil )n (alchol) = (turpentine oil)n / n(alcohol)

= 1.47/1.36

The refractive index of turpentine oil with respect to alcohol = 1.08

Hence, refractive index of alcohol is less than refractive index of turpentine oil , light will travel faster in the alcohol

Hope this answer will help you.....
