The Reason is that when soldiers march in steps, each soldiers exerts the periodic force in same phase and therefore the bridge executes the forced vibrations of frequency equals to the frequency of there steps. Now, If Natural Frequency of the Bridge Happens to be Equals to the Frequency of the Steps, the Bridge will vibrates with a large amplitude due to the RESONANCE and the Suspension Bridge may Collapse.
