The Deccan region and South India was not part of Akbar’s empire. The Deccan region was subjugated by Aurangzeb which was later regarded as one of the reasons for the downfall of the Mughal empire.

Akbar started ruling from 1556 to 1605. He was put to the throne at the age of thirteen years with the help of able general, Bayram Khan. With his policy of cultural assimilation, he subjugated Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Bengal.

He managed to control the frontiers of Kandhar and Kabul from central Asia. He also conquered Kashmir, Baluchistan, and Sindh. Godavari River marked the southernmost boundary of his empire when he died.
