These reactions are called, redox reactions. ... We say that iron oxide, is reduced to iron, by removing Oxygen. This we call it, as a reduction reaction. Traditionally addition of Oxygen, to asubstance, was called oxidation. Removable of Oxygen, was calledreduction.
