· Each DNA strand is composed of repeating nucleotides. Each nucleotide has a phosphate and sugar(pentose) attached lengthwise and a nitrogenous base attached to the sugar inwards which extends to join another nitrogenous base in an adjoining strand. Nitrogenous bases are Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine and Thymine.
