Effective resistance,$R_S$= $R_1 + R_2 + R_3$
                                                      =2 Ohm + 3 Ohm + 4 Ohm
                                                      = 9 Ohm
In Parallel:
Effective resistance,$R_P$=$1/R_1 + 1/R_2 + 1/R_3$
                                                      = (1/2 + 1/3 + 1/4) Ohm
                                                      = $(6 + 4 + 3)/12$ Ohm
                                                      = 13/12 Ohm
So, [tex]R_P [/tex]=12/13 ohm
