The geographical area of Chhattisgarh can be divided into 5 major river basins:
1. Mahanadi Basin (75,546 Sq.Km.)
2. Godavari Basin (39,577 Sq.Km.)
3. Ganga Basin (18,808 Sq.Km.)
4. Narmada Basin (2,113 Sq.Km.)
5. Brahmani Basin (1,316 Sq.Km.)
