and new resultant be R

therefore r=√p²+q²+2pqcos∅

now q becomes 2q

therefore magnitude resultant R

R=√p²+4q²+4pqcos∅

and direction of new resultant

θ=tan-¹(2qsin∅/p+2qcos∅)
