The role of women in the civil disobedience movement was very important, this statement can be justified through the fact that a large number of women participated in Dandi march, they continued the production of salt and boycotted foreign clothes and goods. Women from both rural and urban areas participated in the movement. Some of the women from urban areas who participated in the movement are Sarojini Naidu, Kasturba Gandhi, Satyavati Devi, Kamala Nehru, Vijaylakshmi Pandit, etc. Many of them even went to jail as a part of British policy to end the movement.
