Answer:

The root mean square speed, Vrms = 300 m/s

Mass of He, m = 8 g

The molar mass of He, M = 4 g/mol = 0.004 kg/mol

Ideal gas constant, R = 8.314 J K⁻¹mol¹

No. of moles of He, n = mass/ (molar mass) = 8/4 = 2 moles

We know, the root mean square speed of a gas is given as,

Vrms = √[3RT/M]

(300)² = 3*8.314*T / 0.004

(90000 * 0.004) / 24.942 = T

T = 14.43 K

Thus,

The total kinetic energy of 8 g of He gas is,

= 3/2 * nRT

= 3/2 * 2 * 8.314 * 14.43

= 719.82 / 2

= 359.91

= 360 Joules
