The root of the equation ax+b=0 will be what if a#0 and a,b are rational numbers. Please explain me this along with the answer.

Given equation is :

ax + b = 0
So, ax = -b
So, x = -b/a

Thus, the root of the equation is
x = -b/a

Now, if a ≠ 0 and a,b are real numbers, then the root of the equation is real.

If a = 0,
Then root becomes x = -b/0

As it is meaningless to divide a number by zero, the root becomes undefined.

So, for real root, a ≠ 0 and a,b must be real numbers.
