Newton's first law of motion states about inertia. Inertia is the property of a body due to which the body opposes any change in its state of rest or of uniform motion along a straight line. Therefore when a car brakes suddenly the upper regions of our body which are not in contact with the car refuses to stop but the lower regions of our body for instance our legs which are in contact of the car stops moving. This creates a variation in the balances between the different regions of our body due to which the upper body which includes the head get thrown forwards.
