The food begins all it's journey right from the mouth where the tongue rolls it and the teeth helps breaking it into pieces.
Further it gets helped by the saliva who softens it to begin the process of digestion and travels all the way down the digestive system.
Travelling down walls of the digestive system, the food gets touched by the muscular and moves constantly to propel food through it, mixing the contents within each organ.
