The two equations are --

x + 3y = -1
2x - y = 5

To make 'x' equal multiply 2 to first equation.

2x + 6y = -2 ---(1)
2x - y = 5----(2)

Equating (1) and (2),
7y = -7
y = -1

x + 3(-1) = -1
x - 3 = -1
x = 2

So required solution (2,-1)
