B. the presence of a Y chromosomes in sperm

Explanation:

The sex of a baby is determined by the type of male gamete that fuses with the female gamete. Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes in their nuclei. Out of these 23 pairs, the last pair is known as the sex chromosome. In males, the 23rd pair of chromosome is the XY sex chromosome. Male gametes can either be 22+X or 22+Y. Females have 23 pairs of chromosomes including XX sex chromosomes.  The sex of the child depends on what happens at fertilization. If Y chromosome is inherited by the offspring from male then it will be a male child and have XY combination of sex chromosomes. If X from both the parents fertilize, then the offspring will be a female having XX combination.

Option B is the answer.
