The shape of the top of the table in a restaurant is that of a segment of a circle with centre O and angle BOD = 90°. BO = OD = 60 cm.
Find : (i) the area of the top of the table;
(ii) the perimeter of the table. [Take π = 3.14]

Step-by-step explanation:

angle BOD = 90°

In a full circle there's 360°

90/360 = 25%

therefore 25% of the table is removed.

area of full circle = πR²

= π(60)²

= 11304cm²

the table is only 75% of the total circle

= 11304*75%

= 8478cm²

perimeter = 2πR for full circle

= 2π(60)

= 376.8cm

perimeter of table = perimeter x 75%

= 376.8 x (75/100)

= 282.6cm
