The side of a square flower bed is 1m 80cm long. It is enlarged by digging a strip of 20cm wide all around it. Find the area of the enlarged flower bed and also the increase in area of the flower bed

Answer:

7400 sq.cm

72400 sq.cm

1 .80 m = 180cm

area of flower bed = side x side

= 180 x 180 = 32400 sq.cm

area of strip = 180+20 = 200

= 200 x 200 = 40000

= 40000 - 32400= 7400 sq.cm

total area = 32400+40000 = 72400 sq.cm
