here s=8+15+17/2

s=40/2

s=20

area of triangle=

 \sqrt{s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)}

area of triangle=

 \sqrt{20(20 - 8)(20 - 15)(20 - 17)}

area of triangle=

 \sqrt{20 \times 12 \times 5 \times 3}

area of triangle=

 \sqrt{2 \times 2 \times 5 \times 2 \times 2 \times 3 \times 5 \times 3}

area of triangle=

 \sqrt{2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 3 \times 3 \times 5 \times 5}

area of triangle=2×2×3×5=60cm²
