The small groups obtained on dividing all the observations are called “Classes or class interval ” and the size is called “Length of class interval ”.

Consider the set of observations. " 2 , 4 , 6 ,7 , 9 , 45 , 44 , 36 , 37 , 78 , 96 , 32 "

This data can be divided into subsequent classes with length of class = 50.

Then the classes would be

0 - 50 = { 2 , 4 , 6 , 7 , 9 , 36,37 , 32 , 45 ,44}

50 - 100 = { 78 , 96 }

With the each observation as a frequency, the distribution simplifies to

0 - 50 frequency :- 10

50 - 100 frequency :- 2

These are topics which we study in Statistics.

Frequency ,Histograms, Ranges, Cumulative frequently, Ogive curves are some other topics in this chapter .
