By prime factorization, we get

9408 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 * 7 * 7

Here 2 and 7 are in pairs, But 3 needs a pair.Thus,3 can become pair after dividing 9408 with 3.

So, 9408 will become a perfect square after dividing it by 3.

Therefore the smallest number is 3.

9408/3 = 3136

 \sqrt{3136} = 56.

Hope this helps!
