Particles of matter are continuously moving. Rate of movement of particles increases with temperature; therefore the smell of lighted incense stick reaches us several metres away due to diffusion.

when we light the incense the atoms in the incense sticks which give smell reaches the whole room because the gaps in the air is filled with the atoms of incense sticks.
