» Given solubility of S = 28.6% at 50°C in water.

Amount of solute in 50mL of saturated solution

= 28.6/2 = 14.3g at 50°C ....(i)

At 40°C amount of S separates out = 2.4g in 50ml ...(ii)

from eq.(i) and (ii)

Remaining solute = 14.3g - 2.4g = 11.9g in 50ml

.°. Solubility of S at 40°C = 11.9/50×100

= 23.8%
