the solubility of gas in water at 300 Kelvin under a pressure of 100 atmosphere is 4×10-3 kg per litre therefore the mass of the gas in KG dissolved in 250 ml of water under a pressure of 250 atmosphere at 300 kelvin is

Answer:

Explanation:

=> According to question, Temperature is remaining constant here and thus, solubility will increase due to increase in pressure:

=> Solubility is directly proportional to pressure, so we get

=> S2/S1 = P2/P1

where,

S = solubility

P = pressure

=> by placing the given value, we get

S2/ 4*10⁻³ kg/L = 250 atmosphere / 100 atmosphere

S2 = 4 * 10⁻³ Kg/L * 2.5 = 10⁻² kg/L = 0.01 kg/L

So 0.01 kg gas is dissolved in 1000 ml (1 L) of solution  then,

=> Amount of gas dissolve in 250 ml of solution = ?

= 0.01 kg / 1000 ml * 250 ml

= 0.0025 kg
