x + y = 8

x - y = 2

2x = 8 + 2

2x = 10

x = 5

2</strong><strong>y</strong><strong> </strong><strong>= 8 - 2

</strong><strong>y</strong><strong> = 3

So numbers are 5 and 3

Answer:

x-y=2 (1st equation)

x+y=8(2nd equation)

Add 1st and 2nd

x-y+x+y=2+8

then -y will be cancelled with +y

2x=10

x=5

Then substitute x=5 in any equation u wish. lets substitute in 2nd

then y=3
