(a) The time-period of the vibrations is 0.0025

(b) The frequency of the vibrations is 500 Hertz

(c) Yes, humans can hear the sound as it is within hearing range of humans.

Given:

Average rate = 500 vibrations per second

Formula:

T = 1/f

Where,

f = Frequency

Solution:

  • Time period is reciprocal of frequency. Frequency is defined as number of beats/vibration per second.
  • From question, frequency is 500 vibration per seconds which is expressed in the unit Hertz.

T = 1/500 = 0.0025 seconds

  • Human ear can detect sound from 20 Hz to 20 kHz but the hearing tendency of the humans varies individually.
  • Sound depends on loudness which is expressed with unit decibel.
