Answer:

Atomic mass = 6.4 / specific heat  = 6.4 / 0.03 = 213.33

ANd, Equivalent weight = Atomic mass / Valency

So, valency = Atomic mass / Equivalent weight

         = 213.33/69.99 =3 ( approx.)

Given:

specific heat =  0.03

equivalent mass = 69.99

Find valency and exact atomic mass of an element=?

(1) First determine the value of valency.

For valency first find the value of atomic mass

  • Atomic mass × Specific heat = 6.4

       Atomic\  mass=\frac{6.4}{specific\ heat}

       Atomic \ mass=\frac{6.4}{0.03}

       Atomic mass = 213.3

  • Atomic mass=Equivalent mass ×valency

         valency=\frac{Atomic \ mass}{Equivalent\ mass}

         valency=\frac{213.3}{69.99}

         valency=3.04 = 3.04 ≈ 3

(2) For determine the value of exact atomic mass

  • Corrected atomic mass=Equivalent mas × valency

                                               =69.99 × 3 = 209.9 ≈ 209

Hence the value of valency is 3 and exact atomic mass is 209
