Gɪᴠᴇɴ

Length of train = 311 m

Length of platform = 256 m

Speed = 40.5 km/h

Tꜰɪɴᴅ

Time taken by train to cross the platform

Sᴏʟᴜᴛɪᴏɴ

Here, total distance would be the sum of the length of train & length of platform.

⇒ Distance = Length of train + Length of platform

⇒ Distance = 311 + 256

⇒ Distance = 567 m

⇒ Distance = (567/1000) km

Distance = 0.567 km

We know that,

⇒ Time = Distance/Speed

Pᴜᴛᴛɪɴɢ ᴠᴀʟᴜᴇꜱ ᴡᴇ ɢᴇᴛ :

⇒ Time = 0.567/40.5

⇒ Time = 0.014 h

⇒ Time = (0.014 × 3600) s

Time = 50.4 s

Tʜᴇʀᴇꜰᴏʀᴇ,

Train will take 50.4 seconds to cross platform.

Given :-

The speed of a 311 m long train is 40.5 km/h.

  • Length of the train = 311 m
  • Length of the platform = 256 m
  • Speed = 40.5 km/h = 40.5 * (5/18) = 11.25 m/s

To determine :-

Time taken by the train to pass the 256 m long platform.

Acknowledgement :-

\longrightarrow The total distance travelled will be = 311 + 256 = 567 m.

\longrightarrow Distance = Time taken*Speed

Solution :-

When we put the values, we get :

567 = time*11.25

⇒Time = 567 ÷ 11.25

⇒Time = 567 ÷ 1125/100

⇒Time = 567 × 100/1125

⇒Time = 56700/1125

⇒Time = 50.4 s

∵ So, the train takes 50.4 seconds to pass the 256 long platform.
