Let the speed of Boat be x
and that of stream be y
• Speed in Upstream = ( Speed of boat - Speed of steam )
28 = x - y ...... ( i )
• Speed in Downstream = ( Speed of boat + speed of Stream )
32 = x + y ..... ( ii )
Adding ( i ) and ( ii )
x - y + x + y = 28 + 32
2x = 60
x = 60/2
x = 30
Putting value of x in ( i )
28 = x - y
28 = 30 - y
28 - 30 = - y
- 2 = - y
2 = y
So, the speed of Boat is ( x ) :- 30km/hr
speed of Stream is ( y ) :- 2km/hr
