the above question uses the formula of :-
distance = speed X time

all the units in the above formula must be in their same units.
so the given values are

speed = 1240 km/hr

Time = 3 hrs 20 minutes =3*1/3 = 10/3 hrs

so now the units are ready for operations.
applying the distance, time and speed formula
we get :-

Distance =
1240 \times  \frac{10}{3} km \\  \\  = 413.3333 \times 10 \\  \\  = 413.33  \times 10 \\  \\  = 4.1333 \times  {10}^{3}
here the answer in the scientific notation.

Answer:

speed of airplane=1240km/h

Time given =3 hours 20 minutes

we can written 3 hours and 20 minutes as 10\3 ,

1240×10/3

4.133.33km

In scientific notation the result=4.13333×10 to the power 3
