the speed of boat in still water is 10 kilometre per hour if it can travel 26 km downstream and 14 km upstream at the same time the speed of stream

let the speed of the stream is x km/h.
downstream speed = 26 /10+x
upstream speed = 14/10-x.
according to question.
time of each stream is same so,
26/10+x = 14 / 10 -x
260 -26x = 140 + 14x
x = 3 km /h .
thus,
the speed of stream is 3 km/h.

speed of boat in still water=10km/h
let speed of stream be xkm/h
than for downstream .....distance 26 km =10+x×time
for upstream speed of boat =10-x km/h
distance=speed ×time
14=10-x×time
both time are equal
14/10-x=26/10+x
26 (10-x)=14 (10+x)
260-26x=140+14x...........=40x=120
x=3
therefore speed of stream is 3km/h
