Speed is the rate at which distance is covered with time while velocity is the rate of change of displacement with time and is directional.
The similarity observed in the speed x m/s and velocity y m/s is that the magnitude of the two is always equal (that is x=y always) as long as the object moves in a straight line.
Therefore x=y  is the similarity observed in the above motion.

N/B:This however varies when the object moves in curved of spiral line. The displacement will not be the same hence the y will not be equal to x
