The speed of rotation of earth is greater at equator than at arctic circle. Why? Give ans in long points,please.

As we go from the equator of earth to its pole, i.e. the Arctic Circle, the speed of rotation decreases, this is because the distance from the axis of rotation is decreases.One can think practically, consider football as earth and rotate that around a fixed axis, one will find that the speed near the axis is lesser than that at the bulged part.
