Given : a cylindrical bucket 28 cm high and 14 cm in diameter

To Find : The square cms of tin required to make bucket

(a) 1200 sq cm (b) 1386 sq cm (c) 1640 sq cm (d) 1420 sq cm

Solution:

Surface are of cylindrical bucket

= 2πrh  + πr²

(as bucket is open from top)

r = diameter/2 = 14/2 = 7

h = 28 cm

2πrh  + πr²  = 2 (22/7)7*28 + (22/7)*7²

= 1232 + 154

= 1386 cm²

The square cms of tin required to make bucket = 1386 cm²
