Given: cube of side 12 cm,  square pyramid of maximum size is carved.

To find:  1.What is the length of the base edge?

             2.what is height?

             3.what is the volume?

Solution:

  • Now we have given that the square pyramid of maximum size is carved out from a cube of side 12 cm.
  • Answer 1. Length of the base edge will be the side of the cube itself which is 12 cm.
  • Answer 2.  So, the maximum height will be 12 cm at most because cube has the height of 12 cm.
  • Now volume of the square pyramid is 1/3 a²h
  • Putting the values in formula we get:

            = 1/3 x 12² x 12

            = 1/3 x 1728

            = 576 cm³

  • Answer 3: So, the volume of square pyramid is 576 cm³.

Answer:

So  length of the base edge is 12 cm, height is 12 cm and the volume is 576 cm³.
