Given:

Four values in the option are 7, 1.96, 0.04, 13.

To find:

The square root of which of the number from given options is a rational number=?

Solution:

Rational numbers are those which can be written in decimal as well as a fractional form of the numerator by denominator or any form a/b where b is not zero.

Let us verify each number in the option.

a) 7

=> \sqrt{7} = 2.6457.. (It is non-terminating value)

=> Therefore it is an irrational number.

b) 1.96

=>  \sqrt{1.96} = 1.4 (It is terminating value)

=> It can also be written as \frac{14}{10} = \frac{7}{5} = a/b form

=> It is a rational number.

c) 0.04

=>  \sqrt{0.04} = 0.02 (It is terminating value)

=> It can also be written as \frac{2}{100}= \frac{1}{50} = a/b form

=> It is a rational number.

d) 13

=> \sqrt{13} = 3.6055.. (It is non-terminating value)

=> Therefore it is an irrational number.

Hence, the square root of 1.96 (option b) and 0.04 (option c) are rational numbers.
