The  Anti-plastic campaign has been started by different NGO's in various parts of the country. It was initially started by the "Blue and Green" group. The NGO created awareness about the health hazards and the dreadful consequences that could be faced due to use of plastic.

Plastic has been confirmed to be one of the most polluting agents of the environment. So, the use and dispose of plastics need to be curbed to avoid any further deterioration of the environment.

So, as a part of this campaign,
initiatives were taken up by the local Governments of the cities of Shimla, Manali, and Chandigarh. They keep a check on the use of plastic bags and have zero tolerance to garbage. Similar steps were taken in Kerala to save the water bodies and the greenery.

The use of plastic bags has been banned completely in most cities, and if there has been a use of any plastic items, it is considered as a punishable offense with a hefty fine.
