Uttar Pradesh spends the least amount, except Bihar and Jharkhand, on education of each child of the state. While states like Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh spend as high as Rs 18,035 and Rs 17, 223 respectively per student, for academic session 2016-17, UP spends only Rs 9,167 per student on school education.
