Given :   y = Sinx

To find :  Stationary point

Solution:

The stationary points will be the points where the gradient   is zero:

y = sinx

dy/dx  =  Cosx

Cosx = 0   for    x  = (2n + 1)π/2   n ∈ Z

n = 0 => Sinπ/2  = 1   = (-1)⁰

n = 1 => Sin3π/2  = -1  = (-1)¹

n = 2 => Sin5π/2  =  1   = (-1)²

Sin ( (2n + 1)π/2 )  =   (-1)ⁿ

Hence stationary  point is    (  (2n + 1)π/2  ,  (-1)ⁿ )
