Let the reading of centigrade scale be C,

and that of mercury thermometer be M

total no. of divisions on centigrade scale = 100 - 0 = 100

total no. of divisions on mercury thermometer = 90 - 10 = 80

so, the realtionship between these two readings can be given by,

     \frac{C}{100}  = \frac{M - 10}{ 80}

C = 100  * \frac{30 - 10 }{80}

⇒ C = 25°

∴the temperature in centigrade mercury scale is 25° c

The Relation is:

\red\Rightarrow\huge\frac{Tc-10}{90-10}= \frac{Tc}{10}

Tc is temperature in centigrate scale

T is the temperature measured by mercury thermometer and gives to be 30°

\huge\red\Rightarrow \huge\frac{30-10}{90-10}= \frac{Tc}{100}

\huge\red\Rightarrow \huge\frac{20}{80}= \frac{Tc}{100}

\huge\red\Rightarrow \huge\frac{2}{8} = \frac{Tc}{100}

\huge\red\Rightarrow \huge\frac{1}{4} = \frac{Tc}{100}

\huge\red\Rightarrow 4.Tc =100

\huge\red\Rightarrow Tc = \frac{100}{4}

\huge\red\Rightarrow\huge{Tc= 25°}
