Explanation:

There lives an honest wood-cutter in a certain village. He was felling a tree on the bank of a river one day. His axe fell into it by chance, and he began to weep. The god of water heard his cries and took pity on him. “Why axe has fallen into the river,” said the wood-cutter, “and I am too poor to buy another.” The kind-hearted good jumped into the river and showed him a golden axe. But he said that it was not his. He dived again and brought out a silver axe. The wood-cutter again refused to take it, as it did not belong to him. The good dived into the river once again and showed him the iron axe that had been lost. The wood-cutter cried out that it was his, even before he was asked anything about it. The god was greatly pleased with him and gave him the other two as a reward for his honesty.

Moral: Honesty is the best policy.
