Plasma membrane is present in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.

The structure of plasma membrane is almost similar in both type of cells.

Plasma membrane is selectively permeable in nature and it interacts with the outside world.

It is notable that in plant cells, cell wall marks the outer boundary of the cell while in animal cells, due to absence of cell wall, plasma membrane is the outermost boundary of the cell.
