Let the number of student be x.

therefore,donated money=x*x

according to question,

${x}^{2} = 2401$

=>

$x = \sqrt{2401} = \sqrt{7 \times 7 \times 7 \times 7}$

=>

$x = 7 \times 7 = 49$

hence,the number of students is 49..
