Answer: let the total number of rows be X and students in each row be y

then total number of students = xy

Now (X -1) x (y + 3)= xy

X y + 3 X - y - 3 = xy

3 X - y = 3 ...1

Also (X + 2) x (y - 3) = x y

Xy-3x+2y-6=xy

- 3 x + 2y = 6 ...2

Adding equations 1 and 2

Y= 9

Putting Y in 2 , X= 4.

Therefore total number of students = 36.
