Answer: total distance is 728m

Step-by-step explanation: The flags are stored at the place of middle most flag and middle most flag out of 27 flags would be the 14th one.

So there would be 13 flags on each side of the 14th flag as it is placed in the middle.

Therefore, distance traveled in carrying the first flag=2m

Distance for 2nd flag=2+2m=4m

Distance for 3rd flag=2+2+2m=6m and so on.

For 1st side of the flags, sum of the distance traveled in carrying all the flags = [13/2(2*2 + 12*2)]*2 (because she would be traveling the same distance twice in placing the flags ans well as collecting them)

So, S(13)= 364m

And distance traveled for collecting the flags of the other side of the middle flag is also 364m

Therefore, total fistance=364*2 =728m

And, maximum distance she'd travel would be to carry the 13th flag which would be 13*2=26m (the distance between each flag is 2m) we would not consider the returning case in this because she won't have any flag with her during her return journey.

I hope it helps. xx
