The students of class X went to the Chemistry Laboratory of nearby school. They saw different chemical used in the laboratory. They were very much interested to know the uses of different chemicals. They have collected the following chemicals. NaHCO 3 , Na 2 CO 3 , CaOCl 2 , CaSO 4 . ½H 2 O, HCl, NaOH (i) Name the reaction when HCl and NaOH combined. (ii) What is the use of Na 2 CO 3 ? (iii) Which one is strong acid and strong base? (iv) What is the use of NaHCO 3 ? (v) What is the use of CaSO 4 . ½ H 2 O? (vi) What is the use of CaOCl 2 ?

(i) Hydrolysis.

(ii) Na2CO3 (Sodium Carbonate) -- Washing Soda

(iii) HCl  - Strong Acid. NaOH - Strong Base

(iv) NaOH3 (Sodium BiCarbonate) - Baking Soda

(v) Gypsum (Calcium DiHydrate) - Fertilizer

(vi) Calcium Hypochlorite Chloride - bleaching powder, chlorine powder, or chlorinated lime, used for water treatment and as a bleaching agents.
