Cost of the object for discount 20% = 80% Of Original price .

Again allowing a discount of 50% on remaining 80% =50/100*80=40

Now the cost becomes =80-40=40% %

So Total discount to replace 10% and 15% is 60% [ 100-40] .

The successive discount of 20% and 50% are equivalent to a single discount of 60%
