the sum of 2 rational numbers is -8. if one of the rational number is -17/4 find the other

Let the other rational no. be x
then, A/q
-17/4+x=-8
=>x=-8+17/4=-15/4

see here let suppose 1 ration number is x and another is given -17/4
so here their sum is -8
so we can write
x+(-17/4)=(-8)
x= (-8)+17/4
x= -32+17/4
x = -15/4
this is answer of given question
